At the request of the West Milford schools, Dr. Robert Woods will be presenting a workshop on the importance of accurate, comprehensive hearing measurement to a child’s classroom performance and speech-language intervention. The presentation will be given to school based nurses and speech language specialists and will include topics such as: how to read an audiogram (what do all those symbols mean), the impact of fluctuating conductive hearing loss on learning, the importance of and strategies to improve classroom signal to noise ratios, limitations of hearing screenings done in a pediatricians office, and the impact of peripheral versus central auditory processing on classroom performance and how we can tell the difference. The educational presentation will be at no cost to the district.
