Speech and Hearing Associates in collaboration with Seton Hall University is pleased to announce a new treatment program for children who stutter. Based on evidence based treatment research, the yearlong program is designed to teach fluency enhancing skills, promote positive self-esteem, and educate parents to support their child’s communication success.
This innovative program, specifically for children ages 6-10 years old, will begin with five weeks of intensive therapy that will transition into follow up sessions every 8 weeks. The first five weeks will occur on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings (10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.) from July 23 – August 27, 2014. The follow up sessions will take place from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on October 11, 2014; December 6, 2014; February 7, 2015; April 11, 2015; June 6, 2015. Click here for more details.
The five week segment will consist of individual and group sessions held three times a week for a total of 2.5 hours per day. The follow up sessions will consist of 2 hour individual and group therapy held on weekends on alternate months.
Prior to beginning program, the child needs to have had a speech language evaluation. Most insurance will cover the cost of the initial speech language evaluation.
The cost for the 50 hour program is $1000. To enroll, complete the application form and submit with a deposit in the amount of $250. The deposit will be applied to the program fee. The deposit is not refundable unless the evaluation determines that the child is not eligible for the program.
