\"LifetimeWe are pleased to announce that Dr. Robert Woods, PhD, CCC-A, FAAA, ABA, Founder of Speech and Hearing Associates, has been selected to receive the New Jersey Speech-Language-Hearing Association’s (NJSHA) 2020 Lifetime Achievement Award! This award recognizes the remarkable accomplishments of a speech-language pathologist or audiologist who has made contributions to the field and to NJSHA for at least 20 years. The awardee must have been a NJSHA member for 20 years, should have worked in at least two different settings and\/or roles (e.g., clinical, administrative, academic, research and publication), served in a volunteer capacity with NJSHA (as board member, committee chair, served on multiple committees, etc.), and demonstrated a significant impact on others through his\/her professional endeavors. In addition, the awardee will also demonstrate active pursuit of continuing (per NJ State licensing Law and ASHA\/AAA CE programs; ACE Awards). This award is nominated by the board of directors.<\/p>\n

Robert Woods, founder and director of Speech and Hearing Associates (SHA), headquartered in Westfield, NJ, celebrated 50 years in practice as of January 2019. Established in 1969, SHA has grown to nine offices in eight counties (Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Middlesex, Morris, Passaic, Somerset, and Union). Robert has been recognized for demonstrating the highest professional standards of integrity and ethical principles in the execution of clinical services,<\/span>\u00a0and was\u00a0<\/span>awarded \u201cHonors of the Association\u201d\u00a0from\u00a0NJSHA<\/span>. Robert’s<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>mission is and always has been patient care.\u00a0He has\u00a0<\/span>always said to\u00a0his<\/span>\u00a0staff,\u00a0<\/span>\u201ctake care of your patient the best way possible and everything else will fall in place.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dr. Woods received his Master and Ph.D. degrees from Purdue University. He was Professor of Audiology for nine years and Adjunct Professor for seven years in the Graduate School at Columbia University. He was Adjunct Clinical Professor of Audiology at The College of New Jersey and is currently Adjunct Professor in the Doctoral Program in Audiology at Montclair State University. He has lectured extensively in the United States and as invited lecturer in Great Britain, Germany and the former Yugoslavia on topics ranging from Diagnostic Audiology to Hearing Aid Fitting and Dispensing.<\/p>\n

Dr. Woods has been elected to serve several terms on the Board of Directors of the New Jersey Speech Language and Hearing Association and has served as Chair of the Audiology Committee and Chair of the Ethics Committee. He currently serves on the Executive Council of the New Jersey Academy of Audiology. He has been elected from New Jersey to serve as Legislative Counselor to the American Speech and Hearing Association and has served on their Health Care Economics Committee. Dr. Woods has served as adviser to industry, insurance companies, school districts as well as health and governmental agencies.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
