Melissa Palao, MS, CCC-SLP
Melissa earned her Master of Science degree in Communication Disorders and Sciences from William Paterson University in Wayne, New Jersey and her Bachelor of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology with a minor in Psychology from St. John’s University in Queens, New York.
Melissa has worked in various settings including skilled nursing facilities, subacute rehabilitation, outpatient home health, clinics, and public schools. She has clinical experience in evaluating, treating, and counseling patients across the lifespan with a variety of disorders including but not limited to: aphasia, cognitive-communication deficits, dysphagia, articulation/phonological disorders, expressive and receptive language disorders, apraxia and dysarthria.
Melissa provides care to her patients as she would for her own loved ones. She implements functional and individualized therapy to promote meaningful carryover of skills in order to improve and enhance a patient’s quality of life.
Melissa holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA), licensure to practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist in the state of New Jersey, and a Speech-Language Specialist certification from the New Jersey Department of Education. She is also certified in LSVT-LOUD and specializes in Lingraphica Speech-Generating Devices.
